Welcome to Shoreline Middle SchoolMONTHLY MEETING Shoreline CalendarShoreline Middle School, of the Live Oak School District, through its partnership with the community, provides a safe environment where mutual respect, cultural diversity, and educational excellence are fostered and valued. The following information will provide you with an overview of our school and district. Please feel free to visit our school or call our office at any time. We are here to serve you and welcome every opportunity to share our educational programs with the community. At Shoreline Middle School (grades 6-8), you will find a highly dedicated staff which has developed a program to meet the unique needs of middle school students. In addition to being knowledgeable about curriculum, the staff is well-trained in the physical, psychological, and socio-emotional development of adolescence. The curriculum is designed specifically for middle school students. Our SchoolShoreline has many special programs where students will get a well-rounded education that helps them explore and develop their interests. About 35% of the students participate in instrumental music. The elective program offers a wide variety of opportunities. The electives range from art, band, drama, piano, Spanish, and video productions to leadership and computer science. The student leadership program is based on empowering students to develop leadership skills by making decisions that affect the spirit and attitude of the entire student body. Shoreline is designed around a student quad that centralizes student activities and minimizes the need for supervision. Shoreline has twenty-four regular classrooms, and a specially-designed art room, music room and computer lab. We also have a student government room that incorporates a student store and an amphitheater which seats 450 students. The physical education facility contains two large locker rooms, a circuit training room, a portable, and a large multi-use room. The campus has a large blacktop area for basketball, a full-sized soccer field, and a softball diamond. Shoreline is designed to house 650 students in the permanent facility. In the fall of 1997, four portable classrooms were placed on the campus to house our growing student population. An additional portable was placed on campus last year to house the Teen Center. We are proud of the facility and the program that we offer to the middle school students in our community! . |
